TripAdvisor reveals Asia's Top restaurant for local cuisines

“According to a recent TripAdvisor poll, 82% of travellers in Southeast Asia said that experiencing authentic local cuisines during their holiday is important or very important,” said TripAdvisor spokesperson Jean Ow-Yeong.”
Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi bagged the most number of winners with four and three restaurants featured in the Malaysia list respectively.
At the top of the list in Langkawi, Malaysia is intimate Malaysian-fusion restaurant Privilege Restaurant & Bar with 581 reviews and a 4.5 out of 5 bubble rating. Located on the marina of Telaga Harbour Park, Privilege Restaurant & Bar will take you on a gastronomical adventure that combines modern and traditional flavours.

Equipped with a clean and charming interior, Tek Sen offers a wide range of Chinese dishes that have been passed down through generations.
One TripAdvisor reviewer exclaimed, “The intensity of flavour and perfection per dish that you’d expect from a hawker, but with the expansive menu and the brick and mortar establishment it is accessible to everyone!”

The most searched Asian cuisine on TripAdvisor is Chinese, followed by Indian, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Korean and Malaysian.
The list was based on the reviews and opinions of TripAdvisor travellers, taking into account the quality and quantity of reviews for the period of May 1, 2013 – April 30, 2014.
The TripAdvisor site poll was conducted from July 22 to Aug 13 with 1,033 travelers in South-East Asia including Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
